Summary:

Seagen’s new cGMP manufacturing facility “project Launch Pad” is being built in Everett, Washington, just North of Seattle. Launch Pad will be a greenfield build encompassing end-to-end manufacturing capabilities for biologics and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

The Sr. Automation Engineer serves as the technical resource for equipment, control systems, and processes for the site. This position touches each aspect of our manufacturing plant and building operations. The incumbent will resolve technical and process challenges in a regulated GxP environment. This person should have a strong ability to comprehend and adhere to all applicable site SOPs and policies within a regulated manufacturing environment. This position will, on occasion, draft, review and execute documents and procedures related to guidance and controlled documents as necessary. This individual will also utilize validation experience and expertise to draft, review, and execute validation documentation and activities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support Site Automation Lead in responsibilities for Process Automation System(s) and Building Automation System(s) for manufacturing operations, lab environments/equipment, and office spaces
  • Support maintenance and troubleshoot computer and networking issues in relation to SCADA and DCS systems   Assist in remote alarm notifications from various systems, including the setup and modification of equipment alarms, contact escalations, users, and devices
  • Assist in the installation and troubleshooting of flow (Gas and Liquid), temperature, pressure, weight, and analytical (pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Conductivity) instrumentation   Work directly with Quality Assurance and other compliance groups to create, review, and execute validation protocols
  • Support the administration of the EAM and/or CMMS system   Redline system and process drawings to reflect changes made to wiring, process, and system changes
  • Tune PID loops for various process control variables including temperature, flow, pH, Dissolved Oxygen
  • Design, modify, and run reports from electronic systems that provide end users with data for both business and regulatory needs
  • Use internal quality systems to generate, assess, and close Change Control, Deviation, and CAPA records   Support site Safety Culture and implement plans to reduce risk of identified gaps against EHS SOPs and Standards
  • Support site gap assessment against Seagen Engineering Standards

Expected Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical training plus 8+ years related experience working on various automation systems
  • 5+ years experience within GxP environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Well-versed in knowledge of ISPE standards; familiarity with ISA symbols and terminology in relation to system loop diagrams and P&ID d/rawings
  • Some experience using an Enterprise Asset Management system (Maximo) to track and record, track, log the status of work performed
  • Familiarity and ability to work with instrumentation/calibration specialists in support of automation systems
  • Ability to analyze and repair highly complex interconnected automation process control systems
  • Strong understanding of ladder logic, function block, and structured text-based programming in relation to programmable controllers
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and concepts such as Allen Bradley Factory Talk, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, iFix or similar systems
  • Familiarity with the development and support of Emerson DeltaV Platform
  • Experience working with process historians (Wonderware Historian, iHistorian, Pi, or similar) including administration and processing of live and historical data for trend, alarm, and batch reports
  • Strong computer and controls networking background including Ethernet and control systems communications (BACnet, MODBUS, Ethernet/IP, ProfiBUS, OPC).
  • Experience using collaborative online document editing and cloud storage concepts
  • The ability to work within an instrument calibration program and relevant experience calibrating instrumentation is highly desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in groups and explain issues in a clear concise way
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio
  • Ability to work on-call rotation for the Everett manufacturing site
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships
  • Strong team working skills across client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams

The hiring pay range for this position is $103,000 to $133,100 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role.   Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
